A 4-inch record player, $49.99, exclusively at Target
Tiny Vinyl has released a turntable for its own four-inch record format, priced at $49.99 and sold exclusively through Target online and in stores. A matching crate is $19.99 and a 2x2 display frame $14.99. The player is a belt-drive unit running at 33.3 RPM, about 10 x 5.5 x 6.5 inches, 3.88 lb, with dual built-in speakers, Bluetooth, a headphone jack and no battery. Each disc is traditionally pressed and holds two tracks and up to four minutes of audio per side.
The format detail worth noting is commercial rather than technical: five Tiny Vinyl discs count as one album sale for Billboard and RIAA purposes. Releases so far include BTS, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath. New Atlas does not give a catalogue total.
This is on the feed because an automated pull surfaced it, and it is worth being straight about what it is. It is a novelty consumer product at a normal consumer price. It bends no cost curve, and nothing here gets cheaper for anyone. We score it a 1 and keep it visible rather than delete it, because on a day the curator is offline the record should show what the automation reached for.
