MANY MINDEDDenza claims 1,100 km of range on a 102.3 kWh pack
Denza, BYD's premium brand, opened pre-sales of its Z9S electric sedan on Monday 3 August 2026, CnEVPost reported. Prices start at 319,800 yuan (about $47,100) for the flash-charging Premium version, rising to 349,800 yuan for the Flagship and 389,800 yuan for the Performance version.
The claim drawing attention is range. Denza general manager Li Hui said at the launch that the top version delivers 1,100 km on the CLTC cycle, which would break the 1,036 km record held since March by the updated Denza Z9GT. The three versions are rated at 780 km, 920 km and 1,100 km on the same 102.3 kWh battery pack — so the difference is drivetrain and efficiency rather than a larger battery. Charging is quoted at 10% to 70% in five minutes and 10% to 97% in nine. The second-generation Blade Battery and the God's Eye 5.0 assisted-driving system are standard across the range.
Two things gate electric vehicle ownership for people without a private driveway: how far the car goes, and how long a stop takes. A car that adds most of its range in five minutes at a public charger behaves far more like a petrol car in daily use than one needing an overnight home charge — and that is the constraint that has kept EVs disproportionately in the hands of homeowners.
The price is published and transactable, which makes it checkable. The range record is not. CLTC is a manufacturer-run standardised cycle, and the figure was announced by the brand's own general manager at its own launch event, with no independent test. Pre-sales are also not deliveries: the car is not yet in customers' hands.
