Florida wildlife groups recorded 13,770 loggerhead sea turtle nests along an 8.5-mile stretch of Florida's Atlantic coastal region during the current summer nesting season as of August 2026. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach monitored these nests, with Sanibel Island recording 922 nests—exceeding the 878 nests from the previous year. This data represents more than two months of the summer nesting season remaining as of August 17, 2026.
