Germany's utility-scale solar tender hits €0.0399/kWh bid threshold

Germany's latest ground-mounted solar tender achieved the lowest bid price of €0.0399/kWh, the first utility-scale auction in the country with a price below €0.05/kWh.

Germany's Federal Network Agency allocated 2,135 MW of utility-scale ground-mounted photovoltaic capacity in its May 2026 tender. The auction received 261 bids, with prices ranging from €0.0399/kWh to €0.0510/kWh. The average bid was €0.0479/kWh. Bavaria secured 429 MW, Baden-Württemberg 266 MW, and Lower Saxony 225 MW of the total capacity. This tender marks the first utility-scale solar auction in Germany where the lowest bid price fell below €0.05/kWh.
