Inside Geely's 16-in-1 electric drive and its 93.8% claim
Geely has unveiled an electric-vehicle powertrain it calls the 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive, an 800-volt system that packs 16 components into a single compact drive unit weighing 75 kilograms (about 165 pounds). The company puts its combined efficiency at 93.8% under the CLTC test standard. Developed with partner InfiMotion, it will debut on the Geely TT, and in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup it makes a combined 425 kW (570 horsepower) and reaches 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The efficiency figure was showcased through demonstrations. Circling Qinghai Lake, a Geely TT used 8.20 kWh per 100 km, set as a Guinness record for the lowest-energy loop of the lake by a battery-electric production sedan; the drive system claimed two Guinness records in total. Geely credits a 54-channel directional cooling design that can drop peak motor temperature by up to 15 degrees Celsius, and says the unit is engineered to last 5 million kilometers.
Efficiency is where electric mobility quietly gets cheaper. The less energy a drivetrain wastes as heat, the more range comes out of the same battery — which means either a smaller, cheaper pack for a given range or more miles from the pack a car already has. Squeezing 93.8% out of the flow from battery to wheels chips at the cost per mile of driving electric. Geely is carrying this into Europe, where it has launched the E5 SUV and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid in Germany.

The 93.8% figure is measured under the specific CLTC procedure, not a universal standard, and the headline achievements are Guinness records tied to promotional demonstrations — including a 46-kilometer continuous drift on a wet surface — rather than independent efficiency audits.
