Kazakhstan passes 1.37 GW of solar across 52 plants

Ministry of Energy data puts Kazakh solar at 1,375.21 MW by Q2 2026, inside total renewables of more than 3.7 GW.

Kazakhstan's installed solar capacity reached approximately 1,375.21 MW by the second quarter of 2026, across 52 operational solar power plants, according to Ministry of Energy data reported by pv magazine on 3 August 2026. Total installed renewable capacity exceeded 3.7 GW over the same period. The country plans to commission 245 MW of renewables during 2026, including five solar projects.

These are small numbers by the standards of the countries that dominate solar coverage, and that is the reason for logging them. The cost of a solar module is now set globally, but whether cheap electricity actually arrives somewhere is decided nationally — by permitting, grid connection and financing — and those decisions are made country by country, mostly without coverage in the Western technology press. A landlocked, hydrocarbon-built economy adding its fifty-second solar plant is the unremarkable form a global cost curve takes on the ground.

These are government deployment statistics with no cost or tariff data attached, so they establish capacity, not price.
