Momenta puts driverless delivery vans on Suzhou routes

The Chinese autonomy firm confirmed robovans running round-the-clock express and overnight delivery in its home city.

Momenta has officially announced its entry into the robovan business, with driverless delivery vans now operating in the Xiangcheng district of Suzhou, where the company is headquartered. The vehicles run express and overnight delivery routes around the clock. They are built on Momenta's in-house R7 world model, which debuted in mass production in April, and use a map-free approach rather than relying on pre-built HD maps.

The scale behind the move is substantial. Momenta says its mass-production business has generated over 12 billion kilometers of real-world driving and more than 100 million 'golden data' segments. It spent 1.87 billion yuan ($275 million) on R&D in 2025 — 77.5% of total revenue — and raised about HK$6.8 billion in its July 8, 2026 Hong Kong IPO, with roughly 60% of proceeds earmarked for R&D.

The economics are shifting fast. LiDAR prices have fallen from around 100,000 yuan to the low thousands, and single-vehicle bill-of-materials cost has dropped below 100,000 yuan. More than 33,000 driverless delivery vehicles were deployed across China by the end of December 2025, and one industry report projects annual sales could reach 860,000 units by 2030. Cheaper autonomous logistics means lower last-mile delivery costs, which touches the price of moving goods everywhere.

Watch how quickly the fleet scales beyond Suzhou. China lacks national certification standards, so deployment requires city-by-city licensing. The market is also concentrated — Zelos and Neolix together hold nearly 90% share — and some of Momenta's operational figures are the company's own.
