Norlane gets printed concrete walls under a state housing program

Homes Victoria and Geelong builder Hamlan Homes are printing concrete walls for a social housing project using Contour3D's system.

Homes Victoria has backed its first social housing built with large-format 3D concrete printing, in Norlane, with Geelong builder Hamlan Homes using Contour3D's printing system. The printer lays successive layers of concrete along a programmed path to form the internal and external walls; roofing, windows, services, insulation, and internal finishes then go on conventionally. Hamlan cites reduced material waste and better energy performance from the thermal mass of the concrete walls.

Printed walls matter for shelter only if they cut the cost and time of the enclosure enough to fund more units from the same budget — which a government housing program is well positioned to measure. The report is brief: no home count, cost, or completion date. Those figures sit with the builder and the agency.
