Porsche began production of wireless inductive EV charging for the Cayenne Electric SUV on September 18, 2026, initially available for order in Germany and select European markets. The system uses a charging pad installed under the vehicle and a ground pad in the customer’s parking space to enable overnight charging. It supports up to 11 kW with 90% efficiency, includes motion sensors and foreign object detection to prevent unintended activation, and is designed to automatically stop charging if metallic objects or living creatures are detected on the ground pad.
This feature operates exclusively for the Cayenne Electric model and is rolled out globally in stages. Porsche’s specifications indicate the system is optimized for the Cayenne Electric’s specific configuration, meaning performance may vary with installation conditions. The rollout remains limited to Germany and select European markets as of the launch date.
For Porsche EV owners in the initial markets, this adds convenience to daily charging routines without reducing costs or accessibility for most EV users.
