San Diego Port Approves Skycharger Electric Truck Hub

Port of San Diego certified permits for Skycharger’s solar-powered electric truck charging facility, advancing clean freight infrastructure with a 90-day lease option for fleets.

The Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners has certified an Environmental Impact Report and authorized a Coastal Development Permit for Skycharger’s Tidelands Avenue Electric Truck Hub project. The 4.8-acre facility near the National City Marine Terminal includes 70 charging ports, an on-site 1,719-kW solar array, and a 1.9 MW/7.8 MWh battery storage system. Power is sourced from SDG&E and the solar array itself. Skycharger is pairing this with a Trucking as a Service (TaaS) program offering a 90-day try before purchase lease option and a five-year path to ownership.

This project directly supports clean freight logistics by providing dedicated, renewable-powered charging infrastructure for trucking fleets.
