MANY MINDEDSimera Sense and IDOM Partner on High-Resolution Earth Observation System
Simera Sense and IDOM announced a partnership on September 17, 2026, to develop and produce the xScape350 optical system for Simera Sense's next-generation MultiScape350 Very High-Resolution Earth Observation imager. IDOM will lead development of the Optical Front End, while Simera Sense provides the sensor subsystem, electronics, thermal management, calibration, satellite interface, and integration architecture. This collaboration directly addresses surging demand for high-resolution Earth observation imagery from commercial, civil, and government customers.
The partnership leverages Simera Sense's existing 50+ global clients using its imaging technology and IDOM's expertise in optical systems for space applications. Both organizations have designed the system to maintain compatibility with modern satellite size, weight, and power constraints, enabling practical deployment as satellite capacity grows. Novaspace projects over 6,500 Earth observation satellites by 2035, creating context for the increasing need for precise imagery.
For small-scale farmers globally, this system could reduce resource waste and boost crop yields through more accurate land monitoring. The partnership moves abundance toward food security by potentially lowering costs for high-resolution agricultural imagery, though production readiness and actual adoption by farmers remain unverified.
