Disease-causing B cell levels dropped significantly within 1-2 months, and newly generated B cells showed absence of autoantibody production in the group. The therapy avoids traditional lab-based cell production, potentially simplifying manufacturing and reducing costs for millions of people living with MS.

This approach—delivering genetic instructions directly to reprogram endogenous T cells in vivo—could make MS treatment more accessible if it scales beyond the trial’s small size. By eliminating the need for complex, personalized cell production, it may lower barriers to affordability for conditions currently requiring expensive, specialized therapies.

Key caveats include the absence of a control group and the trial’s limited scope. Long-term safety remains uncertain due to potential viral DNA integration, and effects observed here may not extend to broader autoimmune conditions.
