Construction could begin in 2026, with the facility expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2029. It would produce photovoltaic cells and solar modules for utility, commercial, and residential use. While Elon Musk stated Tesla and SpaceX aim for 100 gigawatts of solar capacity annually in the U.S., this target remains unconfirmed and separate from the project’s timeline. The proposal is still pending state approval in Texas, and the project’s scale and operational capacity are subject to regulatory review. This development could lower renewable energy costs globally if realized, but current status means it has not yet begun construction or production.
