Trina Solar's Typhoon-Resistant Solar Panels Hold Up to 8,000 Pa of Wind Force

New solar panels withstand extreme typhoon conditions without damage, keeping energy access stable during disasters.

Trina Solar launched PV modules engineered to endure static mechanical loads up to 8,000 Pa—significantly higher than standard typhoon-resistant panels (4,500 Pa rear-side) or conventional modules (2,400 Pa). These panels feature a reinforced frame that handles 30% more downward and 67% more upward force, while widened and thickened construction, dual glass, and patented clamps enable resilience against China’s Force 17 super-typhoons and 75mm hailstones. The design also includes wind monitoring to automatically protect trackers during high winds.

The modules’ performance stems from targeted engineering: frame geometry, glass thickness, and self-locking clamps reduce installation time by 25% while meeting IEC 61730 A+A and UL 61730-2 Type 30 certifications. They pass rigorous testing for thermal cycling, damp heat, and dynamic loading—critical for maintaining energy output during disasters.

This directly supports energy access in high-risk typhoon zones by preventing panel damage that disrupts solar power during extreme weather. For communities in China where Force 17 typhoons occur, it reduces the risk of energy blackouts during disasters—a critical need for reliable power when infrastructure is most vulnerable.

The 8,000 Pa rating applies only to static loading at 1.05x rated levels and dynamic loading at 1.5x rated levels.
