XPENG's July rose 4%, and its year is still down
38K vehicles · a buyer took delivery of a new XPENG electric vehicle · installedmeasured · CleanTechnica, 2026-08-04 — Source states sales rose "4% from 36,717 in July 2025 to 38,027 in July 2026", and describes the figures as vehicles "delivered". Annual null: annualising one month, or the fetched 204,004 seven-month
XPENG delivered 38,027 vehicles in July 2026, up 4 percent from 36,717 in the same month of 2025. Across the first seven months of the year the company has delivered 204,004 vehicles, against 233,906 over the same stretch last year — roughly 13 percent lower. Cumulative deliveries since the company began now stand at 1,211,071.
For scale on the month, NIO delivered 35,934 vehicles in July, a 71 percent year-on-year rise; XPENG still outsold it by about 2,100 units. The backdrop is a broad decline in Chinese auto sales overall, which makes a flat-to-slightly-up month less bad than the number looks in isolation.
Delivery counts are not a cost curve, and a single month tells you little. What they do track is whether electric vehicles keep displacing the alternative at volume, because volume is the input to the learning rate that eventually lowers the price. A manufacturer growing 4 percent in a shrinking market is holding position rather than driving the curve. The honest read is that the monthly headline and the year-to-date figure point in opposite directions, and the year-to-date one covers more ground.
