Xpeng's Mona L05 SUV debuts in China from about $20,800
Xpeng launched the Mona L05, a 5-seat mid-size SUV, in China on October 29. The limited-time starting price is 139,800 yuan, about $20,820. There are six variants: four battery-electric and two extended-range (EREV). Official guide prices run from 144,800 to 176,800 yuan. Buyers who pay a 5,000 yuan deposit by December 15 get a 5,000 yuan cash discount, which gives limited-time prices of 139,800 to 171,800 yuan. The two EREV variants cost 149,800 and 161,800 yuan after the discount.
Compared with the October 15 pre-sales lineup, launch adds a new entry-level 560 Plus BEV variant. The five existing variants' guide prices are each 15,000 yuan lower. The car is 4,870 mm long with a 2,940 mm wheelbase. BEV versions reach a maximum CLTC range of 635 km. EREV versions have a 310 km CLTC battery range and 1,310 km combined range. Max variants use one Turing AI chip (750 TOPS), and Ultra SE variants use two (1,500 TOPS). The cabin has a 17.3-inch central screen and a 20-speaker audio system.
The move matters because a mid-size SUV with this much range and equipment now starts near $21,000. Offering both pure-electric and extended-range versions lets buyers choose by charging access as well as price. The cut in guide prices between pre-sales and launch shows competition pushing prices down.
Watch the sales results. Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, and 284,367 in the first nine months, down 9.20% year on year. CEO He Xiaopeng said in August the company aims to exceed 60,000 monthly sales in Q4. That is a stated aim, not a result. Xpeng said global shipments began October 26, with plans for 65 countries and regions, but it has not disclosed delivery schedules for individual overseas markets. The headline price is also limited-time.
